Weekly Photo Challenge: Solitude

I haven’t posted in a while. Life happens and you don’t have time.

This topic, “Solitude” struck a chord with me. I seek solitude, I thrive on being alone. I always have, even as a child. I seek refuge in being alone, preferably in nature. As a young woman I read Henry David Thoreau’s “Walden Pond” and in my early twenties I tried to emulate his experiment by living in a rustic cabin in the woods of Vermont. Solitude to me is peace, a time for self reflection, an opportunity to acknowledge what is truly important.

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” Henry David Thoreau

I still seek solitude. On weekends, (I work full time), I hike in the Everglades or on the beach. I try to rise in time to catch the sunrise in the swamp. This feeling of being alone with nature is empowering. TranquilitySwamp Fog

About Light Through Glass

"In the end, it’s not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away" Shing Xiong. My quest is my passion to find beauty in all things. To remember to try to live in the moment, to really “see” and hopefully to capture the beauty that surrounds us in everyday life. I aspire to transcend traditional ideas and to creatively through my photographs express my own unique point of view.
